After an unintended hiatus, The So So Glos return with a new single, “This Could Be Christmas” featuring Spider Stacy of The Pogues on vocals and tin whistle. Written in a time of isolation and economic uncertainty, the song illustrates the disconnect between holiday cheer and a darker reality.

Produced by Adam Reich (Shea Stadium) at Second Base Studios, this is the first of a series of homegrown singles in collaboration with friends of the community-based DIY band. Upcoming releases for 2023 will feature artists such as Conor Oberst, Juan Wauters, reggae legend Big Youth, Matt & Kim, Slothrust, and more.

The irony in which a punk band of Palestinian, Jewish & Japanese descent records a Christmas song is not lost on the Glos, who, with this track, celebrate a spirit of inclusivity, unity & compassion - an upward battle in today’s context.

The So So Glos are a band from Brooklyn, New York consisting of brothers Alex Zarou Levine (Alex Orange Drink), Ryan Zarou Levine, and their stepbrother, Zach Staggers. The three have been playing music together since 1992, when frontman, Alex, was just 5 years old. Matt Elkin joined the band in 2007 and the act went on the road for the better part of a decade.

In 2013 the critically acclaimed ‘Blowout’ was released which landed the band an odds-defying performance on David Letterman, where, while still unsigned, they made their television debut. In 2016 the band put out the John Reis (Hot Snakes) produced ‘Kamikaze’, which was recently rediscovered by the New York Mets who used ‘Going Out Swingin’’ in their 2022 post-season hype reel.

Known for both their music and their legacy of founding underground venues the Market Hotel and Shea Stadium Brooklyn, the band has always been proud to champion their hometown’s music scene. They are back, bringing to the stage their energetic live show this December 17th at Elsewhere with support from GYMSHORTS and special guests. It’s certain to be a warm welcome back, just in time for the holidays.
